Anna P. Cifone, 62, formerly of Montoursville and a resident of New Bethlehem, passed away unexpectedly at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning, PA on Nov. 26, 2023, after being stricken at home.

She was born in Williamsport on July 28, 1961, a daughter of the late Edward J. Mertes Jr. and Evelyn F. (Berrigan) Mertes.

Anna was a graduate of St. Joseph Elementary School and a 1979 graduate of the former Bishop Neumann High School, now St. John Neumann Regional Academy. For 10 years Anna was employed at Susquehanna Urology and then for a short time as a secretary for Dr. Durriya Esaa.  She enjoyed crocheting, being with family, especially her nieces and nephews and camping. She was fortunate to be able the spend two months this past summer camping at the family campground and Knoebels, spending time with family.

Surviving are her husband of 18 years, John A. Cifone, John and Anna met on October 13, 2002, and were married on November 5, 2005. In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by 10 siblings and their families, Charles J. (Christine) Mertes of Cogan Station, Margaret (Thomas) Montemorano of Mountain Top, Francis (Kim) Mertes of Jersey Shore, Edward (Tracy) Mertes of Williamsport,   Shirley (Charles) Hamm of Williamsport, Frederick (Lorraine) Mertes of Williamsport, Joseph (Bobbie) Mertes of Fla., Patricia (Joseph) Helminiak of Williamsport, Thomas Mertes of NC, Mary (David) Helminiak of Williamsport, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew and Godson, Matthew Mertes and nieces, Dana and Melissa Mertes.

The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 118 Kendall Ave., Jersey Shore, 11 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, with Rev. David W. Bechtel, pastor of St. Joseph the Worker officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.

The family chooses to have no flowers and memorial contributions may be made in Anna's name to either, Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701, for the benefit of the Hillman Cancer Treatment Center or the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O.
