Carl W. Schramm, 93, formerly of Johnston Place, Williamsport, passed away at Valley View Nursing Center on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.
Carl was born in Williamsport on May 3, 1926, a son of William and Josephine Staib Schramm.

He was a 1944 graduate of the former St. Joseph High School. Following graduation, he joined the Navy. A U.S. Navy World War II veteran, he served from 1944 until 1946 as a radarman, 2nd class. After the Navy he started working at the former Capitol Bakery where he met the love of his life; he and the former Mary Ann Roeckel were married for 50 years until her death on Feb. 2, 2010.

Carl worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 31 years until his retirement in 1987. He also served as secretary for the letter carriers union for many years. He was a member of the former Ascension Church, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish. While at Ascension, he served as a Eucharistic minister and was very active in many of the church's fundraising activities.

Surviving are a brother, Tom (Helen) Schramm, of Muncy; sister, Mary Bussler, of Montoursville; sister-in-law, Louise Persun, of Williamsport; and many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In addition to his parents and wife, sisters, Ruth Moday, Edna Sweeley, Dorothy Shaffer, and Gretchen Bowen; and brothers, John and Robert Schramm, all preceded him in death.

The family will receive family and friends in the church portico on Thursday Oct. 31, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with his pastor, Rev. Brian Van Fossen, officiating

Burial at Wildwood Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County will follow.
