Charles William Bower, passed away at home on October 3, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in South Williamsport on March 4, 1934, he was the son of Paul J. and Alice (Walter) Bower.
Charlie was active in the St. Boniface Catholic Church where he sang in the choir and served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Saint Joseph the Worker Parish Knights of Columbus. He attended Lycoming College. Charlie worked as Vice President of Trimtex Inc. and previously as Vice President of Novtex Corp.
Charlie was a humble, hardworking man of faith who loved music, took pride in his family, and approached life with a positive outlook. He enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, traveling, road trips to New York City to cheer on the Yankees, cruising with his dog “Wild Bill,” and he never passed up an opportunity to treat for ice cream. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and “Grandad.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. (Keller) Bower; his parents; his siblings, Margaret Richmond, Eleanor Stetts, Paul Bower, and Theresa Konkle; his daughter-in-law, Cynthia A. Bower; and his grandson, Matthew J. Bower.
He is survived by his children, Charles J. (Sharon) Bower, Gregory G. (Brenda) Bower, Maria G. (Mark) Maddy, Christina L. (Bruce) Schwartz, Marlene F. Bower, Rebecca J. (Chris) Roof, and Matthew P. (Susan) Bower; his grandchildren, Laura Caroway, Landree Bower, Chelsee Cowden, Hannah Everett, Marc Maddy, Tyler Maddy, Alexa Maddy, Nicholas Schwartz, Blaine Cowart, Mason Schwartz, Eli Schwartz, David Zehner, Doug Zehner, Annie Roof, Jakob Bower, and Chase Bower. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, located at 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, with burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
