Constance M. DeGregory, 102, of Williamsport, passed away at The Williamsport Home on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024.

Born on Friday, May 13, 1921, in Watsontown, PA, Connie was the only daughter of the late Melissa (Whitmoyer) Manley. She married her husband of 52 years, Albert W. DeGregory, on March 20, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Connie resided for over a century in the valleys of North Central Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Watsontown High School and served as an employee at the former GTE Sylvania in Williamsport for thirty-four years, first as the secretary to the director and later as a purchasing agent. She retired in 1983.

She is survived by her children, Barbara D. Ramin and her husband Kim of Hudson, FL, and Marilyn C. (W. Stephen-desc.) Kern of Williamsport; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance (Richard) Shirley.

Connie was an avid traveler, first with her husband, where they were known for taking long, spontaneous vacations throughout the country, and later in life with family and friends, both to the beach and on cruise ships sailing all over     the world.

Throughout her many decades of retirement she was a dedicated knitter, focusing on blankets, sweaters, and mittens, and as an enthusiastic reader she always had a mystery novel at her bedside. But as her family and friends can assuredly attest, her first and most prominent avocation was shopping.

After the passing of her husband, she took up daily, long walks throughout her neighborhood and found community through her membership at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Loyalsock. Upon moving to The Williamsport Home complex in 2014, she became an active resident, taking exercise classes and playing nightly card games with her friends. Her sharp-tongued wit kept her family on their toes throughout her long life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Rd., Williamsport PA 17701 at 10:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made to the James V. Brown Library, 49 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA, or a library of your choosing.
