Darris Wilburn was born October 31, 1969 to the late Gary Braswell and Carolyn Wilburn in Philadelphia, PA. He was the first of two children (Jameel). He was educated in the Catholic School system and graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1998.

Darris graduated from Pennco Technical School in 1970, where he earned a professional certificate as an HVAC technician. He later furthered his education and received an associate's degree in pipefitting from Triangle Tech and earned a bachelor's degree from Local 520 apprenticeship program. He was employed with Local 520 Pipefitters Union for many years. After retirement, he worked part-time for Caring for U as a caretaker until his health failed.

Darris loved the Lord and was baptized on Tuesday, April 8, 1980 at St. Columbia Catholic Church. Darris was a member of the Freedom House Community Worship Center for many years being a faithful servant of the Lord. He was also deeply engaged with this Christian community and they became his lifelong support.

Darris was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and traveled to many conventions throughout the United States. He was consistently asked to share his testimonies at the conventions. Darris always had time to share his life experiences and provide uplifting encouragement to others. He would always start his talk with a favorite prayer: "Thank God for last night's rest and this morning's rise, Love and Respect." He also was a member for the last 6 years of the Brothers of Saint John Lodge No. 26, Williamsport, PA.

Darris was a true blessing to his family; he loved his children and grandchildren – nothing was too much. Darris was truly a remarkable individual. He was sincerely and profoundly loved by many. He would greet everyone he met with a kind word. He loved to talk to everyone including strangers he met on the street.

On August 1, 2009, Darris married his true love Pamela. He leaves to mourn his wife (Pamela); his mother (Carolyn); his brother (Jameel); two daughters (Damira and Danaisya), one son (Dwand); his six grandchildren (A'Nalah, Abriyanna, Naziyah, Nyasia, Nayonna, and Nahiyyah); four stepsons (Caleb, Dominique, Antoine, and Terrance); three nieces (Divine, Destiny, and Desiree); his aunts (Barbara, Cynthia and Pamela) and his uncle (Gregory) and a host of cousin and friends.
