Douglas Edward Christie, 57, of Williamsport PA, passed away in his sleep on 27 January 2025. Doug was a 100% disabled Gulf War Era veteran.

Doug was born on December 6, 1967, to Hugh Emerson and Judith Ann (Stuart) Christie in Muncy Pa. After Doug graduated from Montgomery Area High School in 1986, he went on to study Music on a full scholarship at Penn State University, State College, PA.

Doug joined the US Army Reserve in 1986. He was assigned to the 318th Light Equipment Company in State College Pa.  Doug transferred from the US Army Reserves to US Army active duty in 1988.  Doug was Honorably discharged from active duty in 1993.

During his time of service with the US Army, Doug was awarded the Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service, Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Cold War Certificate.

After leaving the US Army in 1993 he transitioned to working for IBM in Dallas / Fort Worth. TX as lead coordinator for their national repair troubleshooting team.  He left that position and returned home to Montgomery PA in 1997.  He did this to provide care for his two grandmothers and to attend college at the Pennsylvania College of Technology for Printing and Publishing in Williamsport, PA.

Doug was a professional photographer for most of his adult life. He was a free spirit with many different talents. He loved art, singing / music, theatre, gardening, ghost hunting, cooking, hiking, rock climbing, the outdoors, animals / wildlife, shooting and outdoor survival.

Doug had a strong faith in God. He was raised in the Presbyterian church in Montgomery, PA and transitioned to the Episcopal Church as an adult. Within the Episcopal Church he was a verger, who is a lay minster, who helps the clergy.

Doug never married or had any children. Doug was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold E & Harriet E Christie, his grandmother Eliose Vroman and his father Hugh E Christie.   He is survived by his mother Judith A (Stuart) Bennet; his stepmother Judith (Hiscar) Christie; brother Lieutenant Colonel US Army Retired Howard R Christie; Sister-in-law Valerie S (Chaya) Christie; nephew, Brent G Christie. niece, Nicolette A (Christie) Rose, Niece Alexandra R Christie, Niece Wendy (Christie) Johnson; and nine grand nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Crouse Funeral Home, Williamsport Pa on February 7th, 2025, from 9:00 – 9:45 am. Committal Prayers followed by Military Honors will be held at Jersey Shore Cemetery, 1103 Locust Street Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania 17740, February 7th, 2025 at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, an organization Douglas felt strongly about.
