Earl W. "Hoodle" Fox passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport at the age of 92.

He was born in Renovo, Pa. on April 15, 1931, to Frank and Edna Fox. Earl graduated from Renovo High School after an illustrious basketball career. He played saxophone in several bands including the Jive Five with his brother and father, and the Rhythm Kings. After his retirement he joined with his Renovo buddies and continued to play in bands at local events.

He worked for the railroad while in school and upon graduation entered the United States Navy. He served in the Korean War and while aboard ship learned the skill that would make him well known throughout the Williamsport area barber and beautician.

Earl met the love of his life, Joanne Conti, at the movies when she was just 15 years old and he asked to sit with her. They married 4 years later in St Joe's Catholic Church in Renovo on Oct. 29, 1955.

Earl and Joanne moved to Erie while Earl attended barber school. After completing his studies they moved to Williamsport and he started his first job at the Lycoming Hotel Beauty Salon. He later went on to open his own salon with a partner and named it Kim Mar. After several years he struck out on his own and opened Casa de Earl Beauty Salon. Earl sold the shop and retired in the late 90's after more than 30 years in the business.

He adored his daughters, Kim (Mike) and Lori, his grandsons Michael (Lexi) and Jacob, and greatgrandchildren Bailee, Brayden, and Chance.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Joanne, and his daughter, Lori. He was also predeceased by a sister, Edna Saxton, and brother, Frank Fox Jr.

He had a soft spot for all animals and had many beloved pets over the years. His dog Moses and cat Joanie were especially loved.

Earl had an impact on many lives over the years and was so dearly loved. He will be greatly missed.

Family will have visitors on Saturday. Feb. 17, 2024 at 4 p.m. with a short prayer service at 5 p.m. at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E Third St., Williamsport.
