Heaven gained an awesome husband, father, grandfather, uncle and special friend.  Emerson LaRue Lewis, of Proctor, passed away unexpectedly while doing his daily barn chores on September 5, 2025. Just one day shy of his 91st birthday.

He was born on September 6, 1934 on the family farm in Wallis Run, Cascade Township, to the late Charles Francis and Anna Jane (Henry) Lewis.

Emerson was a graduate of Montoursville High School, class of 1952, an Army veteran, a lifelong farmer, a retired tractor-trailer fuel delivery driver for Montour Auto Service Company, where he worked for 42 years, as well as a maintenance employee of Plunketts Creek Township.

He married the love of his life, the former Mary Ann Eck on January 30, 1966 during a blizzard that piled almost 3 feet of snow on Lycoming County. As best friends, they worked hard and celebrated many milestones through their 59 years together.

Surviving, along with his beloved wife, are their children, Annie (David) Aumen of Barbours, Jay Lewis of Huntersville and Christy (Greg) Moyer of Proctor; grandchildren: Nathaniel Lewis, Hunter Moyer (Alijah), Jenna Moyer, Rebecca Lewis, Larry Aumen and Emily Lewis; a sister, Ruth DeWitt, and two brothers, Russell Lewis and Bruce Lewis;  sister-in-laws, Priscilla Lewis and Marie Lewis as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.  Additional "family " members include Sally Lewis, Bill (Jamie) Lewis and Jake Lewis, Royce Stoner (Julie Ralicki) and Daniel Stoner, Mark (Lorraine) Bryan, as well as the entire John C Reider family of Elizabethtown, PA.

In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by his siblings; Lester Lewis, Margaret Campbell, John Lewis, Pearl Reynolds, Esther Kragle, Robert Lewis, Raymond Lewis and Ernie Lewis.

Emerson enjoyed a lifetime of gathering with family and friends around the hand crank ice cream maker, butchering kettles and camp fires as well as farming, raising livestock, gardening, hunting, and helping his friends and neighbors.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville with a reception to follow.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
