Joan Barton Risinger died peacefully at Willis-Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, LA, on Sunday, April 7, 2019.  She was 85 years old and was born on Long Island in NY before becoming an Air Force bride.  She lived across the US before finally settling in Bossier City 49 years ago.

She was born on Dec. 26, 1933 a daughter of Robert H. and Dorothy Stirrat

Joan was a graduate of Baldwin High School and Farmingdale State College

Joan is survived by her sister, Barbara Pace of Montoursville, PA, three sons, Robert Barton of Kennesaw, GA, Thomas Barton of Stella, NC and Michael Barton of Aleto, TX, as well as two daughters, Kathy Larsen of Peoria, AZ, and Kelley Barton of Bossier City, LA.  In addition to her children, Joan is survived by ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Joan was a doting mother who enjoyed visits from her far-flung family, playing cards with the girls and fawning over her miniature schnauzer.  She will be missed.

She returned to Bossier City, Louisiana in 1981 where she resided until she passed.

Joan was a housewife from shortly after her first marriage until the early 1980's when she returned to work as a dental hygienist.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 11, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery (White Church).

Crouse Funeral Home and Cremation services has been entrusted with handling service.
