Obituary

John "Jack" Francis Gerrity, 82, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2026 at Heritage Springs Memory Care.

He was born in Jermyn, Pennsylvania on January 19, 1944, the eldest of seven, to the late Francis and Helen (Trotter) Gerrity.

John was a long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and later a member of St. Boniface Parish.

After high school, John served in the US Navy on the USS Investigator. He began his career with the Pennsylvania State Police in 1967 and worked in the Research and Investigation Division. Upon receiving his helicopter pilot certification, he proudly joined the Aviation Division and later oversaw the Montoursville Aviation Patrol Unit until his retirement at the rank of sergeant in 1998, after over 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death earlier this year by his beloved wife Joan M. Gerrity. They married on October 5, 1968 and together celebrated over 57 years of marriage.

John is survived by children Andrew “Andy” (Stacy) Gerrity of Williamsport and Ann M. (Michael) Lupo of Tuckerton, NJ; grandchildren Baylie Gerrity, Kaycie (Noah) Persun, Patrick Gerrity (fiancée Maya Trump), and Matthew Gerrity; brothers Michael Gerrity, William (Linda) Gerrity, sisters Patricia (Steven) Franchak, and Noreen Meholic; as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws. He was anxiously awaiting the November arrival of his first great-grandchild.

Besides his parents and wife, John is preceded in death by his sisters Judith Rosemergey and Margaret Gerrity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 7, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends and family from 9:00-9:45 prior to Mass, in the church.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS), 630 Wildwood Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Heritage Springs Muncy for their love and professionalism that was shown to Jack throughout his residency.
