Laurence (Laurie) Page Maynard, Jr., 97, of Williamsport, passed

away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at The Williamsport

Home, with family at his side. For over 65 years, Laurie was the

devoted and faithful husband of Doris (Dorie) Losch Maynard, the

love of his life, who passed away on January 22, 2010. They were married  July 15, 1944.

Laurie ("PopPop") is survived by his children, Charles Maynard

and Nancy, of Wallingford, CT, and Laurie Campbell and Timothy

of Richmond, VA. He is further survived by his four grandchildren

and seven great-grandchildren, Kelly Carrillo and Peter (Sam and

Charlie) of Larchmont, NY, Holly Richter and Josh (Ella and

Emme) of Huntersville, NC, Katie Newell and Bill (Parker, Reese

and Collier) of Jefferson, GA and Emily Marsh and Ragen of

Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence

Page Maynard, Sr. and Marion Brownell Maynard, a twin brother,

Charles, who was killed in action in 1943 during World War II, and

his sister, Marion.

Born February 10, 1922 in Williamsport, Laurie graduated from

Williamsport High School in 1939, Dickinson Junior College in

1941 and Duke University in 1946, following three years of

military service. He earned the rank of Lieutenant in the United

States Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a Flight

Instructor in twin-engine aircraft. He and Dorie were married in

St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Stuttgart, Arkansas on July 15,

1944. Following the war and college graduation, Laurie returned

home to work in the family business, D.S. Andrus Music Store. He

later became President until the store closed in 1979. He then

worked as a District Manager of Frigidaire Corporation.

Laurie was a devoted and lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal

Church, where he sang in the choir for 73 years, served as a

Lector, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Vestry.

He was a member of many civic organizations and served on the

boards of the Williamsport National Bank, the Williamsport School

Board, the Y.M.C.A. and the Community Concert Association.

Laurie was a former member of The Williamsport Country Club,

The Ross Club, The Exchange Club and The Wheel Inn. In his

younger years, he loved traveling throughout the United States

with his family and thoroughly enjoyed a round of golf with his

buddies. Laurie was always an avid sports fan and kept up with

local high school and college sports, as well as his favorite

baseball teams.

Laurie's family would like to thank all the wonderful members of

the staff at the Williamsport Home, as well as Dr. James Redka

and his staff, for their loving and compassionate care. Their

selfless devotion to Laurie will long be remembered.

A Memorial Service to honor Laurie's life will be held on Saturday,

September 7, 2019 at 11 am, with Rector Kenneth Wagner-Pizza

and former Rector Andrew France officiating. The family will

receive friends from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will

be held privately at Wildwood Cemetery, at the convenience of

the family. Flowers will be provided by the family. In

remembrance of Laurie, those who wish may make contributions

Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
