Martin E. Gilbody, born March 19, 1950, of Williamsport passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 30th, after a brief illness.

A 1971 literature-graduate of Lock Haven University.

Martin was also active in the Russian Club of Lycoming College while studying there for a brief time. He worked for 40+ years as a transport orderly in the operating room of Williamsport Hospital (now UPMC). Martin was a voracious reader and student of languages from an early age including Spanish, Latin, and especially French.

He was also a lover of cinema and music spanning many genres.

His favorite novelist was Vladimer Nabokov and you would often run into Martin hanging out in Otto's Bookstore looking for his next work. Either there, Stereo House, or Robert M. Sides Music Store. He was an extraordinary audiophile, with collections of vinyl and tapes of Jazz, Rock, Blues, and Pop Artists. His favorite artist being "The Grateful Dead."

Martin is preceded in death by his father Donald I. Gilbody (1984) and mother Sarah D. Gilbody (2017).

Surviving are siblings Mary (Robert) Ekblom of Keen, NH, Margaret (Robert) Johle of Williamsport, Steve (Carol) Gilbody of Clark Summitt, PA, Joan (Scott) Keeler of Williamsport, Phillip Gilbody of State College, PA, Donald Gilbody of Walthman, MA, Gerald Gilbody of Trout Run, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
