Norma Ruth Shaffer, 89, formerly of Linden, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Jersey Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Norma was born in Williamsport on September 19, 1936, the daughter of the late E. Franklin and Martha R. (Miller) Sykes.

She enjoyed going to bingo, family genealogy, tinkering in archeology, crocheting and was an avid reader.

Norma and her husband of Robert L. Shaffer Sr. were married on May 16, 1964, they celebrated 37 years together prior to his death on March 30, 2002.

Surviving are their children; Crystal L. Monnett of Jersey Shore, Mary R. (Harold) Guinter of Jersey Shore, Robert L. Shaffer Jr. of Harrisburg and Charles P.L. Shaffer of Orviston, PA; grandchildren, James M. Eck, Harold E. Guinter III, Steven R. Guinter, Sapphire M. Shaffer and Taylor "Georgie" Lee Taylor; great grandson, Jordan Warring and caretaker, Kristy Taylor.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence R. "Bud" Sykes.

Private family burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Montgomery, PA.
