Norman Lee Baver, 92, of Williamsport, passed away on October 27, 2023 at The Gatehouse Hospice while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Dayton, OH on July 23, 1931, a son of Firman C. and Mary Lucille (Taylor) Baver.

Norman was a member of Balls Mills United Methodist Church of Cogan Station. He worked as a Parts Manager for 23 years at Anchor Ford before his retirement in 1995.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Norman retired as an Aviation Machinist Mate Chief Petty Officer after serving over 20 years, he was the recipient of the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. While in the Navy he flew C-130's and C-110's

Norman was an avid bowler, being inducted and was inducted into the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Hall of Fame. He was also a member of The Consolidated Sportsman of Lycoming County, Susquehanna Bowmen, a member of the Lycoming Creek Anglers Club.

In addition to his parents, his wife of 16 years, the former Rita C. Kiessling, preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2018.

He is survived by his children David (Jan) Baver of OK, Dennis (Michelle) Baver of Montoursville, Victor Baver of Fort Wayne IN, Lynda (Thomas) Shipman of Cogan Station, Mona Boyer of Montoursville, and Rachelle (Ken) Boyer of Montoursville; step-daughter Catherine (Ken) Thomas of Linden; as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport PA 17701. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends and family from 10:00-11:00 prior to services at the funeral home.
