Richard "Gruba" F. Groulx, 88, of Williamsport, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at the UPMC Susquehanna of Williamsport. Richard was the husband of the late Ruth S. Young Groulx with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Dick was born in Kulpmont, Pa., on Nov. 14, 1930, and was the son of the late Leo J. and Jane L. Delaney Groulx. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Penn Dot as a welder after 17 years.

Dick was well known as Daddy Groulx by many friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to camp in the outdoors. He enjoyed baking, pies and donuts especially and cooking breakfast for his family. For the past 27 years he was in regular attendance at the Billtown Blues Festival. He also enjoyed listening to steel drums at Indian River Inlet with his beach family. He was known for many humorous sayings. Most notably he would say, "No thanks, I just ate a doorknob." Dick will be remembered fondly and with a smile.

He is survived by his three children, Michael E. Groulx, Marie Y. (Dion) Stewart, Michele A. (fiance Michael Aldenderfer) Groulx, all of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Renee Strait, Georgiana Strait, Ryland Smith, Hayley Groulx; and by a great-granddaughter, Ellie White.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth S. Young Groulx, on Jan. 31, 2018; and by two sisters, Marie A. Kreiser, 2007, and Joan Thompson, 1986.

An Irish Wake to celebrate the life of Richard F. Groulx will be held at a later date.
