Richard W. Hauser, 98, of Williamsport passed away at UPMC Williamsport ER on Saturday morning, August 17, 2024.

Dick was born in South Williamsport on August 14, 1926, the son of Archie and Myrtle (Eck) Hauser.

He was the last remaining member of the original Little League team, Lycoming Dairy. Dick was honored to throw out the first pitch in Friday's game. His upbringing in Little League inspired him to coach Little League and basketball.

Dick was a graduate of Williamsport High School, after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Eisner a destroyer escort. He served in the navy from 1944 until 1946. During his working career he worked for a number of food distribution companies, among them the Brown Derby and Swift & Co.

He was a longtime member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church.

Dick and his wife, Ruth I. (Eck) Hauser, were married October 9, 1947, they were married for 76 years before she passed away December 1, 2023.

Surviving are their seven children and their families; Richard (Kathy) Hauser of Lost Creek, WV, Stephen (Connie) Hauser of Muncy, Thomas (Karen) Hauser of State College, Karen Tucker of Montoursville, Christine (Vincent) Pinti of Clover, SC, Daniel (Susan) Hauser of Rocky Point NC, Annette (John) Cypher of Cannonsburg, PA; twenty-seven grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren, a great great grandson and his sister, Alice Jean (Al) Cornish of King of Prussia.

In addition to his parents and wife, a son Kenneth Hauser and son-in-law, Stephen Tucker preceded him in death.

The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial we be celebrated 10 a.m.  at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington, Blvd., on Friday, August 23, 2024 followed by burial will full military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.
