Robert Charles Shade, 89, a longtime resident of Williamsport, passed at UPMC on September 22, 2026.

He was born in Williamsport on September 6, 1937, a son to the late Charles and Katherine (Schemery) Shade.

He graduated from Williamsport Senior High School and went into the US Army Reserves. He later was enlisted in the US Army, where he was stationed overseas in Korea. He was rerouted to Japan, where upon arrival he discovered none other than his brother at the same base. When he returned to the states in 1962, he proceeded to work for many local companies, driving truck and buses. He later worked at Nehart in sales and delivery, and proudly volunteered with the City of Williamsport's Civil Defense Team from 1981 - 2004. He loved watching his Westerns,  listening to records, and roller skating whenever he had the chance.

Robert spent many years caring for the love of his life, the former Judy Aungst, until her passing in 2009.

He is survived by their daughter, Ann (Chris) Crawford of Williamsport; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers; several nieces and nephews; as well as brother-in-law Michael Aungst Sr.
