Shirley H. Bernardi, 95, passed away on December 8, 2023, at The Williamsport Home, where she resided for the last several years.

Shirley was born in Williamsport on August 17, 1928, a daughter of the late Russell and Thelma (Steffen) Hartsock.

She was a 1946 graduate of Williamsport High School where she played the French Horn in the band and symphony orchestra. She then went on to work for Bell Telephone where she continued to work for 42 years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, volunteered for the Community Arts Center and as a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

In her earlier days, she enjoyed attending her grandson's ballgames, travelling, playing cards, swimming, boating and motorcycle riding (as a passenger). She was a past member of the Board of Directors at Sycamore Estates and played in the Hand Bell Choir at Church of the Savior Lutheran.

She is survived by her children; Cathee A. (David) Frey of Montoursville and Scott A. (Terri) Bernardi of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Brian Vierra, Kyle Vierra, and Cory Bernardi; great-grandchildren, Adalee Vierra, Ambriella Vierra, Casen Vierra, Jack Vierra, and Maya Vierra.

In addition to her husband of 30 years, Ernest S. Bernardi Jr., she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Hartsock; and half-brother, Clayton Hartsock.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the caretakers and doctors at The Williamsport Home for all the years of excellent care they provided Shirley.

A service will be held at Wildwood Chapel, 91 Wildwood Blvd., Williamsport on Saturday,  December 16, 2023 at 10:00 am with Rev. Shawn Simchock officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
