Steven Charles Saar, 76, of South Williamsport, passed away in the comfort of his home on Jan. 30, 2020.

He was born in Williamsport on Sept. 11, 1943, a son of Charles J. and Mildred L. (Sweet) Saar

Steve was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and had been employed at Lycoming Motors/Textron as an inspector, he had served as shop steward and was a member of United Auto Workers Union 787.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling, he was a member of Good Will Hunting Club, over the years he enjoyed going hunting with his dogs, his dog Rocky, never left his side. Steve was also a  former member of the former Wheel Inn Club.

He was very athletic in his earlier years and continued to be very involved with his children in all their sporting endeavors, he helped restart and was former president of South Williamsport Pop Warner Association, former Little League Softball Coach, Little League Baseball Coach, All Star Senior League and Major-League All-Star Baseball Coach. Steve was also an avid South Williamsport Mounties fan and a Penn State fan.

He and his wife, the former Carol Plocinski, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on June 27, 2019, in addition his is survived by; daughters, Clementine Foulkrod, of Trout Run, and Sue Ann Jolin (Cory), of Proctor; and son, Sean Saar (Robyn Johnson), of Trout Run; grandchildren, Ty Steven Foulkrod, Anthony Foulkrod, Cody Foulkrod, Toriann Cillo (Geno), Dakota Jolin, Dennis Saar, Sara Saar; and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, with the Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions may be made in Steve's name to either the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701; or St. Joseph the Worker, 711 W. Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
