Todd Adams Ten Eyck, 65, of Montgomery, PA, passed away January 11th, 2024. He was in the company of his beloved daughter, Suzanna Ten Eyck, and had been surrounded all day by cherished loved ones.

Todd was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to his late parents, Dawne and Joanne Ten Eyck, but spent most of his childhood in Antioch, IL. For the past decade, Todd has resided on a uniquely beautiful plot of land near Williamsport Pennsylvania, in a home that he himself designed. He was a man of talent and nuance: he knew how to build a car from scratch, and he also appreciated great poetry. He loved shooting off fireworks and guns as much as he enjoyed drinking fine wine and reading news and literature. He had the sharpest wit and the softest heart. He was a high school football star, a body-builder, a husband, a father, a traveler, a hunter, a builder, a mechanic, a mentor, a fisherman, a sushi-enthusiast, a guitar student, a writer, and a Catholic.

He became a father at the young age of 21, which necessitated that he cease his pursuit of a medical degree in lieu of working to provide for his family. Although he did not fulfill his early dream of becoming a doctor, he rose to the top of his field in the manufacturing industry over the years as a result of his creativity, intelligence, and grit. He has spent over a decade working at Muncy-based Andritz Inc. as a plant manager. Todd was a principled man with an unparalleled work ethic. He valued the responsibility and challenges of his profession, along with the people who shared in his work. Although his family mourns the fact that he died just as his years of retirement began, we also know that his work provided him with much purpose and solace.

Prior to his time in the Williamsport area, Todd lived in a variety of climates and homes. He had a penchant for finding unique properties and was a master of understanding hidden value, and being able to bring a property up to its highest potential. He has resided on the warm beaches of California and Texas, in the deserts of Arizona, in the bitter cold of Minnesota, and in the foggy mountains of Pennsylvania. He exposed his children to new environments and cultures, instilling in them tolerance, courage, and a sense of adventure. He met each day of his life with enthusiasm – he woke early each day simply because he didn't want to squander the hours. He wanted to live, and what a life he led!

For 16 years, Todd battled advanced prostate cancer. Cancer has never defined him, although it is what took him from this world far too soon. He sought care for his disease much in the way he lived his life: he researched carefully, he didn't accept the status quo, and he never let adversity diminish his passion for life. He underwent surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and participated in numerous experimental treatment trials. Many people would have taken his serious prognosis 16 years ago as a death sentence, but Todd rose to the occasion. He fought to survive for his family and out of his sheer exuberance for life, and we are forever grateful and inspired by his persistence. His daughter, Suzanna Ten Eyck, and husband Bryant Fauss, provided unmatched loving care for him in his final months. It was a great comfort for Todd and his family to have his daughter Suzanna's compassionate care and dedicated advocacy – she was with him, holding his hand, until his final breath.

Todd is survived by his three children, Joshua Todd Ten Eyck, Suzanna Jo Ten Eyck, and Samantha Jean Ten Eyck; his siblings, Tony Ten Eyck and Dana Spector; Grandchildren Nova, Levi, Walter, Adira, and August; and his beloved friend Thao Ten Eyck.

It remains surreal to write about this wonderful and vibrant human in the past tense, but to quote a poem from Mary Oliver:

"To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go."

We are broken-hearted to let Todd Adams Ten Eyck go.

A mass, funeral, and celebration of life will be held this April.
